Born in 1984 in Tokyo, Makoto Nagahisa became a film director after working in advertising.

In 2017, he wrote and directed the short film And So We Put Goldfish in the Pool., which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival. His feature film, We Are Little Zombies, was part of the official selection for Berlinale and other international film festivals. Upcoming projects include directing a TV series, Sunny, produced by A24.

Makoto Nagahisa began directing films and music videos while working as a commercial planner in an ad agency. In 2017, he released his first short film, And So We Put Goldfish in the Pool., and in 2019 he released his first full-length film, We Are Little Zombies. His latest project was the advertising short film for Gucci, called Kaguya by Gucci, released in 2022.
