On Saturday, September 1st, 2018, more than 200 producers and creatives attended the first edition of CICLOPE Asia, the regional leg of the festival that recognises and rewards exceptional film craft in advertising and music videos. The winners were announced in an awards ceremony held at Eurolive, in Shibuya, Tokyo.
The jury was chaired by Umma Saini (Creative Lead, Google India) and Takeshi Takada, and included top professionals such as Mike Farr (ECD, W+K), Kazoo Sato (CCO, TBWA\Hakuhodo), Reed Collins (CCO, Ogilvy North Asia), Masa Tanaka (Associate CD, RGA), Yuka Tsukada (CD, Dentsu), Michael Ritchie (Managing Director, Revolver/Will O’Rourke), Lily Li (General Manager, MPC Shanghai), Aki Mizutani (director and editor, Cutters Studios) and Kate Hyewon Oh (CCO & ECD, Cheil Worldwide) among others (see the complete list of guests HERE).
During the event, 14 entries were awarded and one of them won a Grand Prix: Go Gentle Australia – “Stop the Horror”, directed by Justin Kurzel, produced by Revolver / Will O’Rourke, edited by Arc Edit and created by Cummins and Partners. Ciclope Asia’s Grand Prix and best works in each category will automatically become finalists in the flagship annual festival, to be held in Berlin on November 8 & 9, 2018. You can find the complete list of winners HERE.
Before the awards ceremony, delegates enjoyed a live interview with Tom Kuntz, director of the Emmy-winning commercial “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like”, conducted by Peter Grasse (founder of Mr. Positive). Later, guests had a celebration cocktail at Café 9, with a live show by rap artist Zen-La-Rock.
The only festival dedicated to craft in advertising and moving image arrives in Japan to gather the most prestigious creatives, producers and marketers in an exclusive event in Tokyo. Don’t miss it!
See you on September 1st, 2018.
