Yuka Tsukada has never left her hometown. Born in central Tokyo, near the Imperial Palace, she went to school, went to university, and joined Dentsu—all within a 10-kilometer radius. Yuka feels her identity is represented by Tokyo, a city where change is not feared, where people are open-minded, not stuck in their ways, and surprisingly easygoing. Needless to say, ‘Tokyo’ is reflected in her creative work.
She started out at Dentsu as a copywriter, and then became one of the company’s first female creative directors. She is currently responsible for clients such as Coca Cola Japan, NTT Docomo, Uniqlo, McDonald’s Japan, Asahi Group Foods, and the newly launched Ginza Six. Her work has been recognized at Cannes, Adfest, New York Festivals, and Spikes Asia, among others, and she has judged the film category at Cannes and Adfest.
Yuka believes that innovative communication design begins by acknowledging yourself as nobody.
